Scholarships
The Stanislaus Community Foundation is pleased to make scholarships available to residents of Stanislaus County. Through private donations, several perpetual awards have been instituted offering high school seniors and current university or college students financial aid.
General qualifications and guidelines
- Students will be residents of Stanislaus County attending any accredited university or college (unless specified otherwise) or any student attending school in Stanislaus County.
- Students will maintain a B average or above during senior year and the year the scholarship is made available.
How to apply
- Students may complete the application form, and submit it, along with other required materials, to the Community Foundation.
- Application forms must be completed online.
- Only one application form is necessary to apply for all Community Foundation scholarships.
- Scholarships application will be accepted for 2011 between February 1, 2011 and April 4, 2011.
Applications are also available from the financial aid officer at the school they attend or plan to attend, or by contacting the Stanislaus Community Foundation. Community Foundation scholarships
A–F
- The American Association of University Women: Female students who have graduated from M.J.C. to continue at a four-year institution; who are currently enrolled in a four-year institution; who are planning an education sabbatical or seminar; and who need financial assistance to complete a degree.
- The Arthur T. & Corinne K. Shields Scholarship: General qualifications only.
- The Beyer High Athletic Scholarship: General qualifications. Must be a Beyer High senior involved in Varsity Athletics during junior and senior years. See additional requirements at Financial Aid office.
- The Charles Stone, Jr. Memorial Scholarship: General qualifications only.
- The Derk and Jackie Van Konynenburg Scholarship:
- The Dr. Larry Cooke Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the San Joaquin Notre Dame Club:The recipient will be a resident of the San Joaquin Valley of California, admitted or enrolled at the University of Notre Dame or another Catholic university and pursuing an education in the field of medicine.
- The Edward T. Taylor, Jr. Perpetual Memorial Scholarship: In honor of the Modesto High School Class of 1938, a current or former student of Modesto High School pursuing a degree in any field and meeting general qualifications.
- The First Tee of Modesto Scholarship: General qualifications. Must be an active member of The First Tee Program for at least 3 years prior to applying for this scholarship.
G-L
- The Judy Wiegman Scholarship: One or two scholarships awarded to Stanislaus County students attending higher education institutions who are deemed by the school district to be physically handicapped students.
M-R
- The Modesto Bee Journalism Scholarship: Two scholarships awarded to high school seniors graduating from area high schools, one of whom is a member of an ethnic minority, who intends to pursue a career in journalism.
- The Pat Maciel Lubeck Perpetual Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Ambeck Mortgage Associates: A current or former, female student of Modesto High School pursuing an education in the field of business or computer science and demonstrates financial need.
S-Z
- The Virginia Azevedo Perpetual Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Ambeck Mortgage Associates: A current or former, female student of Modesto High School pursuing an education in the field of medicine and demonstrates financial need.
